BI BI

occasionally it just really HITS ME that bisexual people are completely, completely ignored when the mainstream press starts talking about "gay and lesbian" issues. i don't identify as bisexual (i identify as queer), and i feel like my gender is the cause of more discrimination than my sexuality, but still . . . NOTHING. anyway, a couple of links for australians:

AHRC Responds to ACE Galaxy Poll

Gay couples 'need federal protection'

i don't really have much to say, because i'm too tired.

i hope you're all well!

It's just like that in Sweden too. Journalists usually attaches a "homo-" in front of words like "family", "marriage", "rights", "adoptions" etc. So when they passed the gender neutral marriage law the media called it "homo marriages", and when same-sex couples were fighting for the right to adopt children it was called "homo adoptions". I always wondered if it means that you adopt a homo kid, or if you adopt a homo lifestyle? ;)

Buh. Is that stoopid Age supposed to be Melbourne's serious broadsheet newspaper?

@rahball - my disappointment in the age is . . . large and long standing (oh, shush!). is it bad that i keep seeing the headline about gays needing federal protection as being something about a country-sized condom?

@trollhare - HOMO ADOPTIONS! adopt a homo today! they're great for around the house, and look good in the garden! impress your neighbours! dazzle your friends!

oh, and look, more homo-centrism. screw you bi women in relationships with guys - you don't deserve to bring your partner to our event.

bi all means , I have to agree nix,
Bi people face oppression from Homo and Hetro societal aspects.

A bi man is often described by gay men as someone in denial of their gay identity, or as being more promiscuous.

I also endorse your comments about spaces where couples are welcome irrespective of the parterns genders
